Fish-hook & Whale-tail Bone Pendant

This bone carving is a beautiful piece of Maori jewellery that has been handcrafted from beef cattle bone. The large koru, represent the parents, or grandparents, with their descendants. The koru (M?ori for 'loop or coil') is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling silver fern frond and represents new beginnings, growth and regeneration. Strung on a traditional cord with sliding knots to allow for pendant height adjustment. Each piece is individually carved so slight variations can occur.
